Travelogue Chapter Fourteen

Saturday June 22nd 12:05 p.m.

This will be short. I was just getting packed for yet another adventure and had to fire off a quick note. I put freshly charged batteries in the digital camera and, as it always does when the batteries have been out for more than five minutes, it prompted me for the date and time. When I realized what the date was it suddenly hit me... It was sixteen years ago today that I first arrived in San Diego. I was on my way to Navy Boot Camp. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday... Since I was the only one arriving at the airport at that time (headed for Boot Camp) it seemed that I had been overlooked. Nobody was there to pick me up. This was actually a happy event because it gave me some extra time to visit with a very dear friend who had come to the airport to meet me. After a while of visiting I figured it would be best to try to call someone to let them know I was there... Several quarters later I finally reached the right person and pretty soon there was a van with my very own chauffeur to whisk me away on the greatest adventure of my life. That adventure continues today with a check-ride at the Navy Flying Club at 1500 and a little jaunt up to Wrightwood for a SoCal Airhead get together whenever I finally get there...

I'll let ya'll know how it went when I return...
